What we have here is a multifaceted problem.

1. Anyone that has researched Obama's promises knows he will not be able to deliver without either raising taxes on a large segment of individuals and businesses, or at the very least repealing many of the tax cuts we now receive.

2. There is a large segment of the population that are less informed that have a total misconception of what he has promised to deliver. Their expectations are much higher than anything that could be misconstrued from his campaign promises. In essence they are expecting the Government to provide everything for them free of charge, relieve them of responsibility and accountability. This idea lends itself to pure Socialism and a welfare state.

3. The last problem is a segment of the population, many of the same ones described above feel empowered now. If this election wasn't about race, it is certainly being made that way now. For example I heard a caller on a talk radio show this week say "all you tobacco chewing white conservative Republicans go on and spit your tobacco juice, you gonna find out soon enough". So somebody needs to explain to me exactly where that attitude and idea comes from. If the remark had been made in reverse I am sure the ACLU and NAACP would be all over it.

I already know this as well as you do. I wonder how the people who voted him into office will react when they realize that they are NOT going to get the world handed to them on a silver platter. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't I hear that he went from $250,000 to $150,000 to $120,000 and now he's down to $42,000 (as far as the incomes of people he's going to tax)? I've told sooo many people that there was no way he was going to be able to fund everything he wants done by just taxing the rich, especially his plan for healthcare, if he actually gets that one through (as I'm sure he will). I'm positive I'm not the only one who has tried to tell people this, but they don't listen. They just hear what they wanna hear and believe what they wanna believe. WAKE UP PEOPLE! THIS IS THE REAL WORLD YOU'RE LIVING IN!! I have just recently started reading your blogs and they are very informative. Thanks.

Nina it's doubtful if you would get anything except turned away if you were looking for a hand-out. The problem is that certain segments of the population don't understand what having Obama for President actually means.

For example, the other day a contract meter reader for a rural water company was reading meters. Apparently someone from the water company had went just ahead of him turning off and locking out meters of those that had delinquent water bills. As the meter reader came to the houses that had been turned off he was met with agitation and anger. At nearly every one of these locations he was told "after next month you won't be able to do this to me!". Apparently there is a segment of the population that has the idea just because Obama is going to be President they won't be responsible for paying their bills. Some of these same populous also have the idea when he takes office they are going to begin receiving a regular check from the Government.

You're right, it is absurd!! I am sick and tired of my hard earned dollar going to support Laquitia and her 7 illigitimate kids! I wonder if I would get a hand out of I went and stood in line with my hand held out?

At 1:09 PM EDT today the House of representatives passed this legislation. At 3:12PM the Dow Jones Industrial Average is at 10,325.38 down -157.47

Good to see the markets really took a bump on the so-called good news.

The only solution that I can come up with is a middle class consumer revolt.. Past experience has taught me that is highly improbable.

Altho many will give it lip service, not near enough consumers will resist the lure of low prices long enough to force a change.
